University of Virginia
administrators are trying to help small and minority-owned businesses succeed
by hosting a series of teaching sessions.
They held one of the
sessions Tuesday at the Holiday Inn in Charlottesville. People who represent "Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business" (SWaM) took
notes on how to be more competitive as they do business with UVA.
It's all based on research
about why they aren't winning contracts, and how they can work on making a
change.
"What happens with a
lot of small businesses, is because the owners are so caught up in the day-to-day
operations that they don't have the time or the knowledge to go after what is
available," course instructor Bill Eastman said.
It's not too late to join
these small business sessions. Click
