A preliminary hearing was scheduled Monday for a former Albemarle County police office and teacher arrested on child porn charges.
Around 11:00 Monday morning, 47-year-old Charles Farrell Long Jr. waived his right to that preliminary hearing at Albemarle County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Long is facing two counts of possessing child pornography and two counts of producing child pornography. All the charges are felonies.
Neither Long nor his attorney had a comment on the way out of court Monday. In court, Long noted that the commonwealth had enough evidence to prove probable cause.
Long was arrested in April after police spent several months investigating a complaint of sexual abuse. Arrest warrants claim Long molested two victims between 1992 and 1997.
Long denies any wrongdoing, but the court filing says he admitted to providing pornographic magazines and lubricant to a pair of minors and was present while they masturbated.
Long told police that he converted many of his old photos and videos, saving some of them to Apple's iCloud program. A new return on a search warrant showed police collected a CD with contents from Long's iCloud account, but exactly what was collected, was not listed.
Long is a former Albemarle County police officer, former Albemarle County Sheriff's Office reserve deputy and a former fourth grade teacher in Charlottesville.
His case will go before a grand jury in Albemarle County Circuit Court on August 6.
