Some of the best barbecue masters from across the country battled it out for a tasty title in Louisa Saturday.
At the Ques and Cruz Showdown, 52 barbecue teams from as far away as Oklahoma competed for the $10,000 grand prize. The belly-filling event also included live music, games, and a classic car show.
Ques and Cruz coordinator Bill Small said, "We have 65 judges that are judging the turn-ins now, and there are four categories. There's chicken, there's ribs, pork, and brisket. You have to compete in all four to get the grand championship, which everybody's after."
All proceeds benefit the Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department. The winner will also receive a spot in the Jack Daniel's Invitational in Tennessee and a draw in the American Royal Barbecue Competition in Kansas City.
