Waynesboro Sweeps Staunton With 4-3 Win

Posted: Updated:

Waynesboro beat Staunton for the 8th time this season, as the Generals topped the Braves 4-3 Friday night in the Valley Baseball League.

There was a large crowd on hand at Mathers Park in Waynesboro for the rivalry, as it was also 'Waterslide Night' for the kids.

Brandon Murray went 3-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI for the Generals (26-11, 19-6).

Murray now has seven home runs this season.

Ryan Stephens homered for Staunton (18-22, 10-18).

UVA's Rob Amaro had what turned out to be the game-winning RBI in the 4th inning with a single to right.

Waynesboro will host Covington in a doubleheader Saturday at 5pm and 7pm.

Staunton will play at Rockbridge at 7pm.
