Cash mobs have been popping up all over the Charlottesville area, and now they've arrived in the valley. The Darjeeling Cafe and Wine Bar in downtown Staunton was the target of a cash mob Thursday night.
One local patron wanted to show her support of small business by setting up the spending spree. The word spread through Facebook and Twitter.
Kim Metje, a local business supporter, said, "Cash mobs is about showing up to that business and actually spending money there. And we did just $10 to $20 because you want it very affordable for the person to show up. And you're just supporting your mom and pop business."
Metje says anyone can set up a cash mob using social media to tell all your friends.
