Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas was named to the preseason watch list the Davey O'Brien Award Wednesday.

The O'Brien Award is given out each year to the best QB in college football.

Thomas was previously named to the Maxwell Award watch list as a candidate for player of the year award.

Thomas set a school record for total offense with almost 3,500 yards in his first season as a starter last year.  

He had thirty total touchdowns, including a school-record eleven rushing TD's, and the 6-foot-6, 262-pounder was named second-team All ACC.  

Thomas has been the Hokies spring practice offensive MVP two years in a row.  

Virginia Tech has six players on preseason watch lists so far.  

The Hokies open the regular season Monday, September 3rd at home against Georgia Tech.
