Augusta County Man Pleads Guilty to Breaking and Entering

Wednesday, an Augusta County man facing abduction and burglary charges avoided a jury trial with a single plea.

Melvin Raymond Humphries, 34, pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon to breaking and entering with the intent to commit assault. Prosecutors say he broke down the front door of the victim's home near Churchville last September.

Humphries was scheduled for a trial on Thursday. He'll be back in court in October for sentencing and faces up to 20 years in prison.
