Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge will be closing its doors in the Shenandoah Valley on August 31. Officials say the move is due to significant budget cuts.
The organization's executive director, Jackie Bright, says Big Brothers Big Sisters serves a geographic area the size of Connecticut and they no longer have the resources to properly serve those areas.
Bright says the move will ensure they can continue to offer its full array of services to the Charlottesville - Albemarle area.
This year Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge has seen its operating budget cut in half.
Services from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County will not be affected.
