Fork Union's Christian Hackenberg is the top ranked quarterback in the nation in the class of 2013 according to ESPN.
The Penn State commit and Fork Union Military Academy student is in southern California competing in the top QB camp in America.
Hackenberg and 24 of the other best rising senior signal callers in the country are on display through Sunday in the Elite 11 Camp in Los Angeles.
Hackenberg made the Elite 11 finals after a strong performance in Las Vegas at the Elite 11 regional in June.
"It's an honor for me," said Hackenberg. "It just shows that all the work I put in paid off, and then just being able to compete, like you said, sort of represent for central Virginia and all that stuff. It's neat, fun, lots of tradition in the Elite 11. It's really neat to be a part of that."
The 6'4", 215-pounder also traveled to the Rivals 5-Star Challenge in Atlanta last month and competed in The Opening, a four-day camp at Nike headquarters in Oregon earlier this month.
"I think in every sport it's a constant learning process but especially in football, because you can always pick up the little things, little fundamentals that'll make that much of a difference," said Hackenberg. "It's a game of inches, so any little advantage you can get, any little skill set that you pick up that'll give you that extra second is highly effective and very important for me."
Former Elite 11 campers include Matthew Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Andrew Luck, Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor, UVA's Peter Lalich, and current Cavalier quarterback Phillip Sims. The camp started in 1999 and is lead by former NFL QB Trent Dilfer.
ESPN will air specials on the Elite 11 finals on August 7 and 14.
