The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man for the sexual assault of a nineteen year old Augusta County woman that occurred on July 1, 2012 at a residence in the 100 block of Loudoun Ave.
The Staunton Police Department, aided by detectives from the Waynesboro Police Department, arrested Christopher Jay Dovel, 27 years old, on the parking lot of the Rite Aid Pharmacy on West Beverly St on three charges stemming from the assault. Dovel has been charged with rape, animate object sexual penetration and forcible sodomy.
He is being held without bond in the Middle River Regional Jail. He is scheduled for an advisement hearing on July 19. If convicted, Dovel could receive a punishment of life imprisonment.
