Former 'Hoos Compete in NBA Summer League Sunday

In 26:30 of action Sunday night, former UVA star Mike Scott scored six points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in his second NBA Summer League game for the Atlanta Hawks against the San Antonio Spurs in Las Vegas.

Scott scored seven points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds in a team-high 27 minutes Friday in his pro debut against the Washington Wizards.

Scott and the Hawks play Boston Monday afternoon at 4:00 in their third of five games in Vegas.

Former Cavalier Mustapha Farrakhan is playing for the New York Knicks in the NBA Summer League.

After missing all five of his shots in ten minutes of action in his first game against Memphis Saturday, Farrakhan played well Sunday. In over 16 minutes on the court, Farrakhan scored ten points on 4-of-10 shooting. He also grabbed four rebounds and made both his free throws.

Farrakhan played for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Developmental League in his first season as a pro, earning a spot on the All-Rookie second-team. He averaged nine points and 3.4 assists in 39 games with the Jam, starting eleven games and playing an average of 18.7 minutes a game.

Farrakhan and the Knicks next play in the Summer League Tuesday afternoon against Denver at 4:00.

Former JMU star Denzel Bowles made his NBA Summer League debut Sunday night for the New Orleans Hornets against the Portland Trailblazers.

Bowles led the Hornets with 18 points and 12 rebounds (8 offensive). He played 19:05 and made 8-of-12 shots from the field.

Bowles and the Hornets next play Monday night at 10:30 against Milwaukee in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
