A summer canning class in Charlottesville is teaching people an old fashioned way to preserve food.
Twenty students gathered at The Haven in downtown Charlottesville Saturday to take part in National Can it Forward Day.
They learned how to safely process fresh tomatoes and peaches. Three more classes like this one will take place over the summer. Each costs $20 and proceeds benefit Kay's Kitchen programs at The Haven.
