07/18/12 Update: The University of Virginia's
top chef came up just shy of a big national honor.

Kelly competed Monday for the title of American Culinary Federation's 2012 Chef
of the Year.
Kelly competed against
three chefs Monday for the national title and a $5,000 prize, after he won the
southeast regional competition in February.
Even though Kelly did not
walk away a winner, he is hoping to attain the status of certified master chef.
The University of Virginia's top chef could be cooking up another big honor.
UVA's Executive Chef Bryan Kelly is competing for the title of American Culinary Federation's 2012 Chef of the Year. The ACF named Kelly the Southeast Regional Chef of the Year by after a competition in February.
Now he is moving onto the national competition in Orlando. He will cook beside three chefs from across the country for a $5,000 prize.
