The Albemarle High School girls basketball team will have a new head coach this season, as Rachael Proudfoot was introduced as the Patriots new coach Wednesday night.
Proudfoot comes to Charlottesville from Phoenix, and takes over an Albemarle team which won five games last season.
She has 14-years of coaching experience, and a record of 78-40 in Arizona, including a Region championship and a trip to the state quarterfinals.
Proudfoot met the team for the first time Wednesday night, but will have an opportunity to do a little coaching in a fundamental team camp during the next two weeks.
Proudfoot says, "There's a great foundation built here, with our academics, and our athletes, so I'm excited about that. They're excited, they're already on the court, so that's a good thing. That shows me they're ready for change, and newness."
