Waynesboro School Board Members Assume New Seats

Posted: Updated:

After a quick game of musical chairs, Waynesboro School Board members assumed their new seats Tuesday night.

Board members voted Jeremy Taylor in as chair at Tuesday night's meeting.  Taylor last held the title three years ago. Doctor Melinda Ferguson was selected vice chair.  And a new face on the board is attorney Linda Jones.

Jones says she looks forward to working with Waynesboro City Council.

"I don't want to just simply have my hand out asking for money.  I think that in order to get the funds that are needed from city council we have to educate them. Get them into our schools.  Let them see what it is that's going on and why we need the funds that we're requesting," said Jones.

Some of the money disputes involve year end funding and Kate Collins Debt Service. Chairman Taylor says they might even address the funding formula.
