Cowboy Rides Cross Country for a Cure

Posted: Updated:

It's not every day you see a man riding on horseback to get around the city of Charlottesville, but Johnny Warnshuis is a cowboy with a cause.

He's traveled more than 4,000 miles over the last 14 months, trying to raise awareness about a rare disease that affects his mother, Sally Warnshuis.

Johnny started his Cowboy for a Cure journey in California and plans to travel to Times Square in New York City.

"I'm riding for my mother, she has Guillane Barre syndrome so I'm riding for awareness for that," he explained.

In addition, Johnny is also riding to support the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, autism, poly cystic kidney disease, and lupus, among others.

Johnny says his journey will not end once he reaches New York. He says he plans to continue doing charity work.
