D.J. Brown Signs with Cleveland Indians

Posted: Updated:

Former Orange County High School star D.J. Brown signed with the Cleveland Indians Friday.

The Indians selected the JMU pitcher in the 39th round of June's Major League Draft (#1193 overall).

Brown missed the entire 2012 season because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

He went 13-4 in 37 appearances at Madison, including 9-1 with four saves as a sophomore as the Dukes advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Brown made eight starts as a freshman and eight starts as a sophomore.

Brown earned all-state honors as a first baseman (first team) and pitcher (honorable mention) his senior year at Orange in 2009.

He led OCHS to the state quarterfinals in baseball and basketball.
