No electricity during these triple digit temperatures is brutal, especially for seniors.
Due to the outages, 100 residents at Mountainside Senior Living center in Crozet had to be evacuated and placed in other centers around the region. Many of them have special needs, making the move rough, but every one of them made it through with a positive attitude.
"Everybody was all together in the same room and everyone was very polite and minded their manners. I guess that comes with age," said Mountainside Senior Living resident Alberta Corey.
By Monday, all the seniors were back in their homes. The Jefferson Area Board for Aging says people should remember to check in on elderly neighbors as this high heat continues.
