Food Pantries in High Demand Following Storms

Posted: Updated:

Crozet was one of the hardest hit spots by last Friday's storm, and a community food pantry was in big demand this week.

A majority of Crozet has been in the dark because of the power outages, and many had to toss out food before it went bad.  Crozet United Methodist Church's food pantry had many customers when it opened up on Tuesday.

Crozet United Methodist Church Pastor Doug Forrester said, "This month were starting to do it every week. We had our first Tuesday food distribution this week, and what we noticed was a great first turnout for that."

Food pantries are open across central Virginia for anyone who needs to stock up, and they're also happy to accept donations of canned and boxed non-perishables.
