Six Albemarle County students are saving taxpayers thousands of dollars by revamping the Albemarle County Public Schools website in-house. Through this project, more than 2,500 active web pages will be manually rewritten in a new format.
The web designers are making the site compatible with mobile devices and more user-friendly for parents and students.
Jacob Ball, one of the student web designers, said, "It's a bit more personal and a bit more relevant to who is going to be using the websites. It's people like us who use them, so it's cool to have us also design them and work on them."
Albemarle County Public Schools are paying the students $10 an hour for their services. They say it will be a great hands-on experience to add to their resume.
Students hope to have all the updates completed by August 1.
