Waynesboro's biggest outdoor party takes place this weekend in Ridgeview Park. The 33rd Annual Summer Extravaganza takes place all day Saturday.
It offers 5K and 10K races, acres of arts and crafts vendors, several live bands and a nighttime fireworks display. The family-themed event also has some new additions for 2012.
Waynesboro Parks Director Dwayne Jones said, "We have an extreme bungee jumper, we have a bounce house. We also have something new this year - we have helicopter rides that will be offered on the soccer field. We're kind of excited about that, it's a little something different sort of an adventure theme this year in extravaganza."
Saturday's temperatures are expected to reach 100, but visitors to the Waynesboro event can cool off in a misting tent and plenty of natural shade.
