A once-missing family of rafters are safe early Wednesday morning, after an extensive overnight search along the James River.
Authorities with Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office, Scottsville Rescue Squad, and Lake Monticello Dive Team spent about three hours searching for the missing family. Most of the search was centered in the Scottsville area.
The four set out in the water Tuesday afternoon and did not arrive to their destination, a family campground, as planned.
Fluvanna County Fire Chief, Mike Brent said the family was located in Buckingham County at about 4:30 A.M., which was the other side of the river than they were expected to be on.
The family was safe and unharmed.
