A Greene County farmer is warning of the dangers of using gas-powered generators after one blew up in his face.
Planet Earth Diversified owner Michael Clark was restarting a generator following Friday night's severe weather when it exploded. The fireball left Clark with first- and second-degree burns on his face and arms and damaged his greenhouse.
Now his customers and fellow vendors from the Charlottesville City Market are helping him heal and rebuild.
Clark said, "It really is important for people to realize its serious danger. You could get very burned, as I was, or if I had been in a more enclosed space, I might not have been able to get out."
Charlottesville City Market manager Stephanie Anderegg-Maloy said, "We're kind of like a big family. Everyone was really concerned about Michael."
Market managers set up an online fundraiser for Clark. Click here to donate.
Clark is already back in business. He will bring fresh produce to the Forest Lakes Market Tuesday and will return to the Charlottesville City Market Saturday.
