The UVA men's basketball program received its first verbal commitment for the Class of 2013 this weekend. Cape Henry Collegiate School point guard Devon Hall from Virginia Beach has pledged to the Cavaliers.
He's a 6'5", 205-pound left-hander and listed as a four-star recruit according to Rivals, the 38th best overall prospect in the class of 2014.
Hall was considered a Top-50 prospect in the Class of 2014, and the #4 point guard, but has decided to reclassify to 2013 so he can play a season earlier.
Hall will have the opportunity to move right into the starting line-up when senior point guard Jontel Evans graduates after this season.
Devon Hall chose the Cavaliers over offers from schools like Florida, Maryland, Georgetown, Missouri, Miami, Wake Forest, Florida State, and Virginia Tech.
Hall will join his older brother, Mark, at UVA. Mark Hall will be a freshman on the Wahoo football team in the fall.
Devon Hall plays AAU basketball for Boo Williams with Brandan Stith, former UVA star Bryant Stith's son, and Hall is good friends with Bryant Stith's younger son, B.J., who verbally committed to play at Virginia starting in 2014.
