Neighborhoods in Waynesboro are cleaning up from Friday's severe and deadly weather. Downed trees took power lines along with them and at the Kenmore Park Apartments in Waynesboro, a tree crashed through the roof.
People living there were evacuated and are waiting for the all-clear to return. Mattie and Kris Gilday had to bunk up with relatives last night after a tree crashed through their unit.
"They have to check the power lines and the electrical lines and the gas lines and stuff so we don't know," said Mattie.
A clean-up company finished removing the trees from the building Saturday.
A few miles away, April Hurt is still trying to figure out how she's going get a massive tree out of yard and fix a busted car window, knocked out by flying debris.
"The wind was just howling, brush flying, doll houses, bikes, a little bit of everything," said Hurt.
Just off the intersection of Northgate and Rosser Avenues, downed trees and power lines surround a house, knocking out electricity in the neighborhood.
As the calls for clean-up continue to come in, crews are ready for a long busy weekend of recovery in the Shenandoah Valley.
