A Rockbridge County High School football star was killed just days after arriving for duty in Afghanistan.
Chase Prasnicki, 24, was killed Wednesday by an improvised explosive device while on patrol. He arrived in the country on Sunday.
Prasnicki was a star quarterback at Rockbridge. He was also a graduate of West Point.
Prasnicki is survived by his father David, mother Debbie, sister Lauren and brother Tyler, and his wife. He married Emily Nichols seven months ago Tuesday.
