UVA's Perdue Advances To Olympics

UVA rising senior Lauren Perdue has punched her ticket to London, after finishing in 4th place in the women's 200-meter freestyle race in a time of 1:57.75 Thursday night.

Perdue will compete as part of the 4x200 relay team at the Olympics next month.

She joins former teammate Matt McClean, who will be an alternate on the men's 4x200 men's team after placing 5th Wednesday night.

Former Cavalier Scot Robison moved on to the men's 100-meter freestyle finals Friday night after finishing in a tie with Ryan Lochte for 5th in the semifinals Thursday.

Rising sophomore Alison Haulsee moved up one spot in the semifinals of the 200-meter butterfly to place 15th overall, touching in 2:12.59.

In track and field, former 'Hoo Marcus Robinson placed 20th out of 24 athletes in the men's triple jump, and did not advance to the finals.

Robinson's fouled on his first and third jump, and recorded a leap of 15.68 meters on the second.

Robby Andrews advanced to the semifinals in the men's 1,500 meters after finishing fourth in his heat and sixth overall in a time of 3:41.11.

The semifinals are on Friday at 7:25 pm in Eugene, Oregon.  

Ayla Smith finished third in her 400 hurdles' heat and 15th overall in a time of 57.01 to move on to the semifinals, which are scheduled for 6:20 pm on Friday.

Former Cavalier Stephanie Garcia will also compete in the women's 3,000m steeplechase final Friday.
