The Waynesboro Generals scored seven runs in the 7th inning, as they beat visiting Covington 9-3 Thursday at Mathers Park.

Waynesboro remains a half-game in front of Harrisonburg in the South Division, after the Turks beat visiting New Market 10-2.

Joe Charest went 8-innings on the mound for the win for Harrisonburg (16-8).

Staunton (9-12) lost its third game in a row, as they Braves fell 8-5 at Rockbridge.

Phil Lipari had a home run and scored three times in a losing effort.

Brandon Murray had a home run and two runs scored for the Generals (16-7) Thursday night, while Julian Ridings had three hits from the lead-off position.
