A crash Thursday morning in Louisa County claimed the life of a county firefighter.
Charles D. Wilson, 21, was driving a pickup truck on Route 33 when he ran off the side of the road and hit a tree. Wilson was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he later died.
He was wearing his seatbelt when the crash happened. State police are investigating the incident.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m. this morning, Virginia State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 33, Jefferson Highway, approximately half of a mile east of Route 656, Cedar Hill Road, in Louisa County.
The crash occurred when the driver of a 1992 Ford F-150 pick-up traveling westbound on Route 33 ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver, who was wearing his safety belt, suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was flown to UVA Medical Center where he later died.
The Louisa County Sheriff's Office assisted with the on-going state police investigation.
