After leading the UVA men's basketball team to the NCAA tournament for the first time in five years this past season, Mike Scott will be looking to end another Cavalier streak Thursday night during the NBA Draft.
Virginia hasn't had a player selected in the League since Sean Singletary in 2008.
After missing most of 2010 with an ankle injury, Mike Scott rebounded this year with 18 points and over 8 rebounds per game, and was named first-team All ACC.
The fifth-year senior is pegged by most draft experts as a second round pick, but Scott's stock is rising.
"The projection is like a late 1st or early second, but I don't pay too much attention to mock drafts," says Scott. "I just tried to go out during these workouts and go hard at them. I just finished all my workouts, so now you have to wait. Now's the waiting part. It's a bit nerve-wracking. It's also confident, but for the most part it's nervous."
Scott competed against some of the players who are expected to go high in the draft during the pre-draft workouts.
"I have a lot more to go, defensively, guarding a smaller player, working on my handle, and shooting," says Scott. "But a lot of guys are over rated that are big names, and I did pretty well against them."
The NBA Draft will be held Thursday 7pm in New Jersey.
