Book lovers in Albemarle County will soon have one less day to go to library.
Northside Library in Albemarle Square is set to close on Sundays. It's because of a $33,000 budget shortfall from the county.
The board of trustees for the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library (JMRL) made the final decision this week.
JMRL Director John Halliday said, "We certainly wish the county would be able to come up with the $33,000 to maintain the services. There's no denying this is a step backwards for services in Albemarle County, but hopefully someday we'll be able to add the Sunday hours back into the schedule."
Northside Library as well as other JMRL branches are closed on Sundays throughout the summer. Northside was slated to open its doors on Sundays in September, but now that won't be the case.
