Albemarle Supervisor Pieces Together Western Bypass Map
An Albemarle County supervisor is taking Western Bypass matters into his own hands with a little cutting and taping.
With scissors and tape in hand, Albemarle County Supervisor Dennis Rooker and four others, including his wife, have completed what looks like an arts and crafts project to help them visualize the Western Bypass.
The group went through the entire 323 pages of the most current plan for the bypass and printed out each page that contained a picture. They then cut out the pictures and taped them together to create a map. The project took about four hours to complete.
"I think it's very important for everyone who has interest in this project to know what it is, what we are proposing to build and this is what we have in front of us," Rooker said.
Rooker has been vocal about his opposition to the Western Bypass, and he says this map helps to illustrate some of its shortcomings.
Rooker said he wants the map he put together to be accessible to the community, and he encourages anyone who wants to take a look at it to stop by his office.
