CTB Approves Budget, Awards Contract to Build Western Bypass

Wednesday, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) awarded the almost $135 million contract to build the Route 29 Western Bypass to Skanska-Branch/JMT of Virginia Beach.

The contractor was the low bidder on the 6.2-mile bypass project.

The CTB also approved its budget Wednesday, which includes the needed funds to replace Charlottesville's Belmont Bridge.
