Scottsville's first brewery is preparing to open its doors. NB29 caught up with the folks at James River Brewery Wednesday as they were milling to get ready to mash their first batch of brew.
The company will serve four year-round beers on tap including an English bitter, Irish wheat, Kolsch, and British IPA. They hope the business boosts the Scottsville economy and increases tourist traffic.
Dustin Caster with James River Brewing Co. said, "Scottsville needs something. It needs to transfer clientele down to this, down when the rivers not doing it."
The project cost about $260,000, and $100,000 of that came from private funds. James River Brewery hopes to open up in early July.
