Former UVA pitcher Danny Hultzen pitched one flawless inning Tuesday night as a starting pitcher in the Double-A Southern League All-Star game.
He faced just three batters, striking out one, and getting another to ground into a double play.
According to the Tacoma News Tribune, Hultzen is getting the call up to the Mariners' Triple-A club in Tacoma, Washington.
Hultzen has been dominant in the minors for the Jackson Generals in Tennessee, Seattle's Double-A affiliate.
He has an 8-3 record with an ERA of just 1.19, by far the best in the Southern League.
Hultzen has 79 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings with 32 walks and hitters are batting just .151 against him.
The former Cavalier has a streak of 26 2/3 scoreless innings pitched. He's allowed five earned runs in his last 71 1/3 innings on the mound.
He's already jumped eight spots on ESPN's top minor league prospects list, now coming in at #22.
