Charlottesville City Council Condemns Land, MACAA Compensated

Posted: Updated:

The planned Meadow Creek Parkway interchange in Charlottesville is going to cost one community organization a chunk of its land.

The city has secured almost all of the property it needs for this interchange project, but the Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) is still holding out.

The property in question is just four-tenths of an acre, which the city had appraised for about $80,000.

Monday night, Charlottesville City Council decided to move the project forward by condemning that property, and compensating MACAA with that $80,000.

It still leaves the door open for MACAA to pursue more money in court or through a settlement.
