President Obama's campaign volunteers in Charlottesville took to the downtown mall on Saturday to register voters.
The "Gotta Vote" registration drive was part of the campaign's Juneteenth Day of Action. Juneteenth commemorates the day a community of slaves in Texas discovered their freedom two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
On Saturday, volunteers grabbed their clipboards to sign up voters and update registration information.
Aaron Cohen with Obama for America 2012 said, "This is one of the most crucial elections we've had in history because were in such an important time, that I really feel like it's important to get out, and get as many people in action as we can."
This drive was part of the Obama campaign's nationwide weekend push to get more people registered to vote in November's election.
