The best field hockey players in the nation were on the turf over at UVA Friday night, as the US National Team held practice on the Cavaliers home field.
The American squad will play Argentina in a match in Charlottesville on Monday, as the teams get ready for the Olympics.
The new blue turf at UVA actually played a role in the city securing the contest, as the field in London will also be blue, setting up the 'Hoos field as an excellent proving ground.
Paige Selenski and Michelle Vittese will be suiting up in the summer games.
The duo took a year off from school at UVA to train will the national team last year.
They'll be back with the 'Hoos for their senior season in the fall, and get to play the role of ambassadors this weekend.
Selenski says, "Michelle and I were both kind of looking forward to it, and hoping we could train here, play a couple of games here, knowing that we had blue turf, and the London turf is blue. We were just hoping and wishing, and we're just glad to be here for a couple of days, and get to experience UVA, and show everyone around."
"You just really want everyone to be a part of it, and you really want everyone to understand what we've been doing the past year," adds Vittese. "That is going to open up a lot of doors, for a lot of people, and they're going to start to see what the Olympic movement is about. It's going to be a lot of fun."
The match against Argentina is Monday at eight o'clock, and free to the public.
The US upset Argentina 4-2 to win the gold medal in the Pan American games last fall.
