The Shadwell Bridge opened
up at 9:00 Friday morning in Albemarle County.
The Virginia Department of
Transportation started work on the $2 million project in October. The bridge was supposed to open July 9, but crews
worked overtime to complete the project three weeks early.
The bridge carries Route 250
traffic over the Buckingham Branch Railroad.
Both the deck and supporting structure are now replaced.
The new bridge is now able
to support heavier loads.
