Former UVa basketball coach Dave Leitao has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri under head coach Frank Haith.
The 52-year-old Leitao spent last season coaching the Maine Red Lobsters in the NBA's Developmental League.
Leitao spent four years as the head coach at Virginia from 2005-2009. His best season was in 2007 when he led the Cavaliers to a 21-11 record and a share of the ACC regular season title. Leitao was named the ACC Coach of the Year in 2007. The 'Hoos also played in the NCAA Tournament that year.
Before coming to Virginia, Leitao led DePaul to back to back 20-win seasons.
