Albemarle County police are investigating a hit and run vehicle crash involving a bicyclist.
Albemarle County police officers responded to the 900 block of Old Lynchburg Road shortly after 7:00 Wednesday evening for a bicyclist that had been struck by a motor vehicle. The initial investigation reveals an unknown make and model vehicle traveling south bound struck the bicyclist from behind causing the bicyclist to be ejected.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The cyclist was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
