Voters in the valley will choose a Republican candidate for the 6th Congressional District.
Bob Goodlatte is seeking his 11th term in that seat, and has spent primary day campaigning in Waynesboro, Harrisonburg and Roanoke. His challenger, Karen Kwiatkowsi, is a staunch fiscal conservative who has earned the backing of some tea party Republicans.
Goodlatte points to his record and his endorsements. "I think I reflect the values of the voters of this district in Washington, and hope that they will give me the opportunity to continue to do so," he said. "And the first step is winning this primary, so I'm hoping people will turn out and vote."
Polling precincts in the valley are on pace to see just 5 percent of their registered voters. The winner of Tuesday's primary will take on Democrat Andy Schmookler.
