The Charlottesville Sheriff's Office and University of Virginia police are teaming up to help women across central Virginia fight back.
The Slaughter Recreation Center will soon become home of Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) classes to teach women self-defense. Women of all ages are invited to look on or throw a jab in this two-day class.
Charlottesville Sheriff James Brown said, "Even the first day they begin to learn different things they can do in regards to strikes and how to fight off someone that's attacking them."
Participants must pre-register by June 20. Classes start June 23. For more information and to pre-register, email sheriff@charlottesville.org or tabler@virginia.edu, or you can call 434-970-3777.
