Fluvanna Woman Pleads Guilty to Felony Embezzlement Charges

Posted: Updated:

A Fluvanna County woman pleaded guilty to five counts of felony embezzlement Tuesday.  Joanne Thompson is accused of stealing more than $200,000 from her Albemarle County employer in 2010.

Everything wrapped up pretty quickly Tuesday morning inside Albemarle County Circuit Court.  Thompson pleaded guilty to all of the charges against her, and will be sentenced in October.

Police arrested Thompson along with another man, Michael Neymeyer, in 2010 on separate charges of embezzlement from their employer - billionaire Edgar Bronfman.  He owns Georgetown Farms in Albemarle County.

A three-day jury trial last October found Neymeyer not guilty on 16 counts of embezzlement.  Thompson is scheduled to appear back in Albemarle County Circuit Court October 23 for sentencing.
