A provocative LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph exhibit on Charlottesville's downtown mall is the focus of a community discussion happening Monday night.
The Dialogue on Race is hosting the talk about photographer Hank Willis Thomas's collection called Myth(ology) which hangs across from the Free Speech Wall. The exhibit includes a lynched basketball player and an African-American football player face-to-face with a slave picking cotton.
Some people find the public display offensive. Dialogue on Race coordinator Charlene Green said, "I always encourage people to talk about what are their reasons for being offended, what would they like to see differently about the photos that would make them feel more at ease. I think there's lots of reasons for discussion."
The dialogue hopes Monday night's discussion motivates people to take action against racial inequalities in the community. The discussion begins at 6:00 p.m. at CitySpace.
