Dominion Donates $2.5M to EnergyShare Aid Program

Posted: Updated:

Dominion Virginia Power says it is providing $1 million to help customers keep their homes cool this summer.

The energy company said Thursday that the additional funding brings its 2012 contribution to its EnergyShare program to $2.5 million. EnergyShare is a program of last resort for the elderly, the ill and anyone facing financial hardships from unemployment or family crisis and needing help paying energy bills.

Last year, it helped nearly 5,000 families pay part of their summer energy costs.

Dominion says applications are being accepted June 1 through Sept. 28 to participate in the year-round program that has raised more than $54 million in its 30-year history.

The company also says the Fan Care program is being offered to help seniors cool their homes with a free fan.
