Lightning is to blame for a house fire that happened Wednesday night in Albemarle County.
The emergency call was made around 9:30 p.m. for a fire at 927 Michie Tavern Lane, which is about one block from Michie Tavern.
When firefighters arrived, they found fire coming from the second floor of the home. They extinguished the flames and the people who lived inside escaped the house with no injuries.
A report from Albemarle County Assistant Fire Marshal Robbie Gilmer said the house is not a loss and the family is able to continue living in it. Investigators determined the cause of the fire a lightning strike and say it caused about $25,000 in damage.
