Settlement Reached in Sweet Frog Facade Dispute

Posted: Updated:

Monday night, Charlottesville City Council approved a settlement in a facade dispute between a downtown property owner and the city of Charlottesville.

Joe Gieck owns the building at 219 West Main Street on the downtown mall. To make way for a Sweet Frogs Frozen Yogurt, the facade from the 1940s was demolished.  That wasn't in line with city code for the historic area.

Now Gieck is set to settle out of court with the city for $16,000.
