Golfers teed off at the Royal Virginian Golf Course in Louisa Saturday for the Music for Mineral Charity Golf Classic. It was the first part of what's become an entire Alan Jackson weekend in the county.
Funds raised by golfers and sponsors will also support the Louisa Education Foundation. Around 36 teams were involved in the tournament put on by Jackson's music label, Capitol Records.
Mike Rivers with Capitol Records said, "We were really hoping that the concert and the golf tournament - this sort of weekend of fun - would really inspire the town, and take their minds off their everyday troubles."
Golfers ended their round with a BBQ meal at the golf course's club house. Jackson's team is expected to present a check with the total amount of money raised at the end of Sunday night's concert.
