Albemarle County firefighters and rescuers are offering a new real-life class to show the community what it's like to do their jobs. Starting May 24, a classroom at the Hollymead Fire Department will host the Citizens Fire & Rescue Academy.
Students will get an overview of safety procedures, emergency medical services, and an inside look at how fire and rescue crews help protect the community.
Kathryne Presson of the Albemarle County Fire Corps said, "Fire is a risk that everyone is potentially going to have and so you will learn various elements of just smalls things of how you can do to better protect yourself and just community education."
The five-week course is free so anyone can sign up to participate. Classes are Thursday nights from 6:30 until 9:00.
